Vision Therapy

What has eyeQ done to help with eye training, eye teaming, and vision therapy?

Vision means so much more than eyesight. 20/20 is simply the ability to see at one distance. Beyond 20/20 is the ability to control eye movements, to avoid double vision, to focus over a period of time, and to focus closely for reading and studying.

What is Vision Therapy?

Approximately 25% to 30% of all children and young adults have eye-teaming problems significant enough to cause difficulty in their daily lives, including school work and sports activities.

Many "behavioral" issues such as ADD, ADHD, Dyslexia, and a general disinterest in school can be linked to vision problems.

Vision therapists not only help in recognizing ADD symptoms, dyslexia symptoms, and ADHD symptoms, but they help in diagnosing amblyopia, or the eye condition commonly known as "lazy eye." Vision Therapy Centers also assist in developing reading strategies and prescribe reading activities to increase the strength of our eyes and vision. That's where eyeQ comes in!

eyeQ's role with Vision Therapy

The eyeQ program was developed in Japan over the past 30 years by Dr. Akihiro Kawamura. Through extensive research and testing, he found that we can significantly increase our brain’s learning and processing ability, as well as vision, through a series of high-speed imaging exercises which utilize both graphics and text.

Dr. Kawamura also found that our brains can be stimulated and improved by using techniques that push us out of our comfort zone. The eye training in each session strengthens the eyes and increases peripheral vision, allowing us to take in more material at once. The high-speed imaging stimulates the neuro-pathways, strengthening the eye-brain connection and improving our thinking and reaction time.

The eyeQ program was developed to engage more of the brain when reading or learning. The eyeQ training strengthens the eye-brain connection, enabling users to see and process information faster while improving the eye’s ability to track efficiently. The eye exercises strengthen the coordination of all six sets of eye muscles and generally increase peripheral vision.

That is why athletes love eyeQ! They not only improve their vision but also their reaction time.

Dr. Bradley Habermehl of the Sensory Learning Group, has seen the effects with many of his vision therapy patients. Dr. Habelmehl said the following about the impact of eyeQ:

"We have used this program with those patients that are in the later stages of vision therapy and use it to embed the coordination skills that they have learned and experienced during their vision therapy curriculum at our office. The best part is that the patient can use this program at home between vision therapy sessions. The response has been overwhelming with patient, parent, therapist and doctor all noting significant increases with reading and comprehension speeds."

Dr. Habermehl isn't the only vision therapy center that has seen dramatic results with their patients by using eyeQ. Highline Vision Center in Colorado has also seen positive increases in tracking and fluency, regression, reading speed and comprehension.
